The Quick Boost

I've always had good skin. It's primarily genetic, and I've never had to do anything special to look after it. Simple and minimal skincare has always worked for me. My skin tends to agree mostly with the Kiehl's moisturiser and their Calendula face wash. I've used both products for over fifteen years. I always say I'm a beauty brand's worst nightmare. It takes a lot for me to switch products and use something new. As far as I'm concerned, 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it'.

Generally, with pregnancy comes an overwhelming attack of hormones. Between the lack of nutrients, dehydration caused by hyperemesis, and the onslaught of hormones, my skin was now under attack, and I had to delve into the world of skincare products. Which, even as a model myself, can be highly confusing.

I was suddenly plagued with problems I had never had to deal with before: hypo-pigmentation, unknown rashes, textured area, peeling and extreme dryness.

I didn't even research anything at all. When it comes to make-up and skincare, I err on the side of caution, so I knew google would be no help.

However, I had a box of things that had been sent to me or gifted to me by people I trust, and this felt like the right time to dig in. I went into my beauty box and pulled out an Estee Lauder serum I had been meaning to try but, up until that very moment, had not seen the urgency. I've worked with Estee Lauder before and seen their products behind the scenes, so for me, there was a particular element of trust which is why I used it first. I'm honestly so glad I did. I followed the instructions and added this to the two products I already use. My goodness, what a difference it made almost immediately!

I woke up the next day with no texture and supple, hydrated skin that lasted all day. My make-up also glided on smoothly with no settling in the rough areas.

After a week, I found that my skin had stopped peeling, and the random little white heads that plagued my forehead had reduced.

Three months later, my skin is almost back to its usual bright, dewy self. However it didn’t do anything for my hypo-pigmentation, but I’ve been advised that it’s a hormonal change will lesson with time.

I'm happy with the Advanced Night Repair Serum, and I can safely say I will continue using it and buy some more (which if you know me, is a huge compliment). It's quick and easy and not too fussy. These days I have 10 minutes to get ready, so anything that replaces multiple products or makes it easier to look my best is a winner.

In the UK it usually retails for £86 which is quite expensive. But the great thing is a little goes a long way, and for those who have a multi-step skincare routine, I've been told that this product effectively replaces quite a few serums and can be used day or night. They also sell a travel size for a much more affordable £18, so you can try it before you fully commit.

If you've tried it, let me know in the comments below.
